Illinois Registration: Sport Freestyle Division
This registration is for those interested in competing in the Sport Freestyle Division at the Illinois State Yo-Yo Contest.
The Sport Freestyle contest is a one-round final that includes all styles (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A). The performances are 1-minute long and subjectively judged.
All competitors must pre-register and check-in at the event in order to compete (registration increases by $10 on Sunday, Nov. 3 and closes Wednesday, Nov. 6). Each competitor will receive:
A 2024 Illinois State Yo-Yo Contest event yo-yo
One (1) complimentary one-day pass into the Chicago Toy & Game Fair
REGISTER
To register, click “add to cart” and complete the pop-up form that appears with information around the person competing. If you are registering more than one person, you will need to complete this process for each competitor so we have bio information on each of them.
POST-REGISTRATION
Leading up to the event, you will receive communications from event organizers to submit music for your freestyle performance(s) (due Nov. 6) — all music must be pre-cut to 1 minute; no profanity is allowed. CLICK HERE to submit your song.
In order to compete, you must also become a member of the National Yo-Yo League (NYYL) -- they have membership levels from $0-$100+. CLICK HERE to view the options and lock-in your membership.

SPORT DIVISION OVERVIEW >>>>>>>>>
Sport Freestyle Division: Intended for newer players early in their freestyle career or those competing in freestyle for the first time, looking to gain experience and confidence.
Sport Ladder Divisions: Comprised of Sport Ladder divisions (all ages) and Kids Sport Ladder divisions (12 and under), the Sport Ladder divisions are intended for beginners to intermediate competitors and is open to anyone not competing in the 1A Freestyle Open or X-Freestyle Open divisions.
